Garmin Connect, Strava, and Ride with GPS

I stopped posting to this blog eight years ago! Hard to believe it had been that long. How I made up for it for all my Nordic Skiing, bicycling, kayaking, and hiking, however, was to use Garmin Connect, Strava, and Ride with GPS.

On each of these platforms I post stories about my activities along with pictures, who I was riding with, and what the weather was like. If you also post to one or more of these platforms, look me up. I follow and am followed by a number of other skiers, cyclists, kayakers, hikers, and other outdoor enthusiasts. Please look me up.

I love endurance sports and as of this date I have done 46 Nordic ski marathons, with 34 of them being American Birkebeiner races in Northern Wisconsin. The most recent being the 2022 race in February. I am the Webmaster and a Board Member of the Birchleggings Club, a club made up of those skiers that have done 20 or more American Birkebeiner ski races. Furthermore, I volunteered with the Loppet Foundation in Minneapolis, Minnesota in multiple roles, including development, assistance at the City of Lakes Loppet ski races, as a Minneapolis Parks Ski Ambassador, and with the promotion of the 2020 World Cup Race that had to be cancelled because of COVID-19.

I have completed over 105 statute century rides along with numerous other road and gravel rides. I am a past board member of the Twin Cities Bicycling Club, the past Chair of the Technology Committee, and currently am the coordinator for Bike University, the Green Miles program, and have been a ride leader for over 11 years. I am also a past board member of the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride, which puts on multiple day long distance bicycle rides in five areas of the United States to recognize those individuals lost in EMS the prior year. I participated in two 6-day and one 2-day Midwest rides that went between St. Paul, Minnesota and Chicago, Illinois and in Virtual Rides during the pandemic.
